What a contrast! on April 26th we took a coach trip to Trebah Gardens in Cornwall despite the heavy showers and wind we experienced a paradise 100 year old rhododendons magnolias, camellias, and hydrangeas. Redwood trees, palms and bamboos (some edible). A panoramic view cascading down to the river Helford. A water garden a natural spring through a series of ponds. Alices seat a summer house with a thatched roof built with green oak timber. So much more to be seen in the rain with a guide who seemed to live fir the plants. If you missed it you missed a wonderful garden experiences. Then in contrast 13 of us went in glorious sunshine on May 14th to Mandys Plants in Bishopsteignton. Liz the owner took us through a tunnel of various floral varieties. Plants in different stages of growth and colour many being prepared for garden shows. Liz specialises in mandervilla of different colour and types. These amongst other plants latana, sandavilla, cosmos and several others. The afternoon was complete with tea at Jacks Patch. If you were unfortunate to missthese wonderful events why not join us in the village hall on July 9th 7-30pm for an illustrated talk by Keith & Janet Choules.
